The mosque of the Novonikolayevskii magometanskii society built in 1916 is under reconstruction in Novosibirsk. During a conference, the head of the Department of Novosibirsk cultural heritage protection, Alexander Koshelev, announced that the restoration work will be completed this year.
According to him, the restoration of the mosque may be delayed because of the rains. At present painting of the building and repairing of internal structures are being done.
"When we started the mosque restoration project, it was a two-story building, with 80 percent of the logs rotten," - Alexander Koshelev said.
Restorers brought Angara pine logs to Novosibirsk (the diameter of the logs of the mosque reached 30 cm) to give the building its original appearance. Government has invested into the reconstruction of the mosque about 14 million rubles, the interior renovation is financed by Muslim organization
